Flowers For Today: Begonias
I took this photo of begonias out back in my last garden in August 07. They are good plants, never needing their faded flowers picked off (deadheading), and blooming their heads off for months. This one even made it over our Seattle winter a couple of years, but it was heavily mulched, it’s true. I’ll have to plant some here in a shady spot.

I’m going on a trip to Arizona today for a conference so I won’t be near my computer for a few days. If anyone leaves a comment, be sure I will read it and visit your site when I return. I plan to sneak away at least a little bit and take photos, of course!
Your begonias are beautiful, so unlike the ones I see in the greenhouses around here, where they get kind of greasy and dirty looking. This is elegant, to be sure.
(PS Thanks for stopping by. I teach in Waterbury, Connecticut, where the kids are so lazy the only excuse they have for not working is to accuse the teacher of bigotry. They play the card all the time.)
Wonderful begonias, I used to have them on my garden when I was little 🙂
1st time on Today’s flowers and 1st on the list 🙂
Happy sunday!
Sara
Your begonias are most beatiful!

Luiz and all Team TF!

So sweet colour – beautiful flower and a pic of it:)
These begonias are perfect for Today’s Flowers ! Great!
Begonias. Beautiful and gentle flowers.
Such a lovely bunch of begonias – I really adore them and what makes them even more prettier is this gentle pink color. Lovely indeed.
I’ve never tried growing begonias. Your’s are very pretty!
Hope you have a safe trip!
Love the daintiness of the flowers!
I remember begonias became a big hit in the phils. 3 to 5 years ago. 😉
These are lovely. I luv the pink and yellow color combination.
Hi Sara, a lovely choice for TF. A soft beautiful colour on a healthy looking plant. Begonias are growing well here in the subtropics. They come in many colours, sizes and leaf forms. The bedding type you have featured so beautifully, is always a favourite.
I would have liked to have those around!
Great shots! They’re so alive!
Absolutely beautiful Ms Sara, thanks for sharing!
Lovely shot, and I hope you have a safe trip, Sarah. The city of Ballarat here in Victoria, Australia, celebrates an annual begonia festival!
Your begonias do have a lovely perk to them. Such a cheery photo.
Wonderful picture..
Begonias are just beautiful flowers.
Every year I plant Begonias in my hanging baskets.
– cheers from Canada, Gisela
The colours are so gorgeous. Love how they are pale and soft in the centre of the flower and then become more strong and vivid! Great shot!
Love the shades of pink and green on these healthy begonias. Your photograph is wonderful.
These begonias are beautiful. Enjoy your trip to Arizona, a multitude of photo ops ahead of you. Happy travels.

We always have this flowers when I was a small kid…small but pretty especially when they grow in a bunch! Have a nice week!
Begonias do well in cooler climes but do not like acid soils so unfortunately I no longer can enjoy them in my own garden except in pots.
Yours cheered me up no end since they looked so healthy and were so very well photographed.
Beautiful Begonias, i love the colors. Have a good trip to AZ. should find some great photos there.
In Argentina, we call this flower “Flor de Azúcar” (Sugar Flower), I don’t know why exactly.
i love Begonias too! Beautiful photo.
Lovely photo! My mother used to have Begonias in her flower garden all the time. I don’t really know why I have none.
Lindas!!!
Cheguei atrasada hoje porque estava viajando, mas trouxe as orquÃdias da minha cunhada para postar.

Congratulations for your nice post!
This is really beautiful! You always take beautiful shots, Sara! I’m glad you are this week’s Today’s Flower guest photographer.
Beautiful!! So little and perfect!
We used to play with those flowers in my grandmother’s garden during childhood days and we don’t what’s the name of the flower. Now I learned that it is called Begonia. Though I heard Begonia a lot of times, I don’t know what it looks like. Thanks to Today’s Flowers that I am learning a lot.
Your Begonias are really beautiful!
Hi Sara

I like begonias too but they do not like my garden conditions here. Perhaps I’ll try some in containers next year! Sorry I am late posting … we have been away in the city and returned to a power outage and snow! The power is back and so I can now blog!
This photo reminds me of the begonias I used to grow when I lived in a less wet, foggy climate. Thanks for the memories.
Oh boy, begonias… My father was quite a gardener and when I was a kid we used to go out to a nursery in Carmel Valley where he would pick out a few to bring home… They really are quite showy, aren’t they…
Sara , your begonias are very nice. I love it close-up photos.
Congrats
