White rose and ceanothus
I took a walk in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle last week.
This old-fashioned rose with a single row of petals sometimes is prettier than the huge ruffled kind. Below that is ceanothus (see-an-OH-thus), or Wild Lilac in California, or California Lilac up here in Seattle. It also has a sweet scent and can become quite a big shrubby plant, covered in blue in the spring. When I lived in Northern California, it was common and wild, and bloomed with yellow broom on the rolling hills. Pretty nice!
Visit Macro Monday, Mellow Yellow Monday and Blue Monday after wandering about here.
Hi Sarah,
I also love the one row petal rose. Mine are pink. You did a fab job on these pictures. Very crisp color. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, amazing white flower. Great shot.
They are pretty flowers. Happy blue Monday.
I love roses….of any species! This one is stunning. And the ‘lilac’ is almost reminiscent of a crepe myrtle.
Duranta Blossom is my macro shot for the week. I hope to see you visit with me if you can. Have a glorious Monday.
Oh, this are beautiful photos, macros!
Happy BM!
The single row rose reminds me that, in the end, like people, there is about 6 degrees of separation between flowers too! It looks like a giant raspberry blossom! Beautiful photos. Great way for me to start my day!

I’d like to see the bloom “covered in blue.” Happy Blue Monday, Sara.
great captures for beautiful flowers. very nice! have a nice week!
Beautiful blooms…we have the wild lilac around here, too. And white flowers always stand out. Kind of like speaking softly yet being heard in a crowd.
Flowers give us such beautiful photo opps. Great shots!
I do missed our Lilac specially the scent they exudes at night. Happy MYM!

Stunningly beautiful. I see these everywhere and they just brighten up their surrounding so wonderfully. Fantastic shots.
The wild roses, simpler and in my mind lovelier than the fancy presumptuous ones. 🙂
Poor, deprived Floridian that I am, I’m not sure I have ever seen a lilac in bloom in person, and that one is exquisite! Love that shot and the one before it of the other bloom. Just lovely!
Happy Blue Monday to you…
XO,
Sheila 🙂
Beautiful work on the photographs. Nothing prettier than flowers in the spring.Come by and visit when you get the time. Debbie
These are amazing shots of flowers, I just love the blue ones. Very sweet!! Happy Blue Monday!!
Sheila, these are NOT real lilacs! To see real lilacs, you can search on my blog, or even on google images. But they are cute, aren’t they? Thanks everyone for visiting, and especially for taking the time to leave a comment.

We have some ceanothus and we call it Californian Lilac here, too! It’s great for attracting insects.
I love your pictures, and I agree with you about the rose. Sometimes the single petalled variety are more beautiful than the newer ones, especially since they often seem to have a better scent!
That is one gorgeous rose…and such a nice composition!
