I was at the Normandy Park cove with my dear cousin and it was calm and peaceful there at the shore of Puget Sound. Perhaps you’d like to hear the little waves splash on the beach?

If you love peppers you’ve got to get down to the Pike Place market and see the peppers. What a display! Is there anything prettier than a pack of perfect peppers? Last year I bought a string of them and they dried nicely to use in soups and stews all winter long.

This beauty was taken this summer at the Volunteer Park Conservatory in Seattle. Such delicacy contrasted with the massive strength and armed protectiveness of the cactus itself.

Most of the trees around the Seattle area have not turned color much, but this parking lot was all golden yellow leaves. I love how the curb paint is the exact same color. Do you think they chose the trees planning the coordinated autumn show?

All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti. This is a succulent plant maybe a foot (35 cm) or so across that I found on a recent sunny day at the Volunteer Park Conservatory. So vigorous and strong looking!

Down in Des Moines, WA, visiting the friend with the colorful dishes below, across the street is an amazing view, and what could be better than clouds and water in the bright sun?
We’ve had a LOT of rain. Seattle doesn’t actually get very much rain per year, only about 36″ in an average year. What we have a lot of, usually, is cloudy and dim. But this month has been quite rainy, and due to the late onset of summer, the plants were looking better than they usually do at this time.
Here’s a shot of my backyard cosmos after a recent downpour.

I like this photo very much, the graceful arc of the stem decorated with the rain gems really speaks to me, so I’ve tagged this post Best Post of the Week.
Went to a new friend’s house and was so happy to see these cheerful plates in her kitchen. I love the colors! And did you notice that the plates are all in the same color order? Now that’s neat, in more ways than one.
This was on a roadside dahlia flower stand, pretty simple operation, gorgeous blooms. I love the way a sort of gray day was transformed into an explosion of light.
That crabbing expedition out from Anacortes, WA last week yielded some yummy crabs and some neat photos, too. Here’s another island, casting its shadow upon the water.
