Spathiphyllum or peace lily
I used to grow a Spathiphyllum plant like this in the old days when I had lots of houseplants. It actually flowered for me, which is remarkable. The leaves are a nice, dark green and it can manage on pretty low light and some neglect. This lovely specimen, recently seen in the Volunteer Park Conservatory in Seattle, was multi-flowering.
Visit Shadow Shot Sunday down at Hey Harriet’s blog for more intriguing photos with shadows creatively seen, Today’s Flowers, Windors and Doors, Blue Monday and Macro Flowers Saturday.
The shadows and natural light in this shot are great, helps to accentuate the feeling of length. Did you use a refective screen or was it just light coming in from back windows?
Actually, it was a ray of sunlight making its way through the glass panels of the walls or ceiling. Glad you like it, and thanks for visiting.
I like the subtle shadow in your composition. This is a very beautiful specimen. I have one too but the flowers are not so big.
Beautiful shot.
Well now, this is one of those coincidences that are not coincidences, maybe. My shadow shot is a Peace Lily today as well. Yours is wonderful as always.
Peace then, to all
Those spathes certainly are standing straight… a very nice photo and I too like the shadows! L
They are amazing flowers, and your photos are delightful.
I love the name and it DOES look peaceful.
Paz
I’m with Paz! I love the name too! And of course your photo is stunning Sara. Have a wonderful week 🙂
Very nice. I like the detail and coloring of the back on the bloom to the right
What a great shot of these lovely flowers, Sarah! 🙂
