Forsythia in bloom
This shrub used to be seen all over, but not so much any more. Plants have fashions, and this one is passe, apparently. I grew up seeing these blooming forsythias everywhere in the earliest spring. My old house had a big one that was hardly flowering because big trees had grown up around it, shading it, but one branch touched the ground and rooted, so I took it with me. And three years later in some sun, look at it!

Very nice…like yellow stars twinkling in the background.

Lovely Forsythia! I miss them in the spring here in Southern California – don’t see them occasionally – although I did see them last week in mid-CA (7 hours North from me) (probably because they have a colder winter than we do).
Gorgeous shot!
Such lovely yellow blooms.
Forsythia is one of the surest signs of spring!
A TOUCH OF THE GOLD
They say just a touch of the gold
Will make even timid ones bold;
Try yellow, not blue,
And bright amber too—
And don’t be left out in the cold!

Wow your forsythia is blooming already. Mine is not yet. Happy Monday!
MYM
I know what you mean about the forsythia becoming passe. I don’t think it’s planted as much as it once was, and most of those I see are old and have been in place for a very long time. I planted one in my yard just 2 years ago, and I’m hoping for some flowers this spring. they grow very fast. have a happy Monday Sara.
lovely:-)
