Seagulls feeding at water’s edge
Someone was dropping french fries off the Des Moines, WA, fishing pier, feeding these seagulls at the water’s edge. I know that it’s very bad for the birds to do this for many reasons, but I totally understand why people do it even if they know better. The birds look so cute as they fly and flutter around!
Visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday, plus Camera Critters this week. Shadow Shot Sunday has more neat shadows, Weekend Reflections and Wordless Wednesday are great, too. Check out Free Photos “next door” to see what’s new, and do click on Sara’s Fave Photos here if there is only one below.
very clear birds you got there!
Seagulls are all over the world…the white ones look so clean. In Korea, they are grey in colour.
Good shot!

Lovely shot. I’m sure I can hear them rushing around saying “Mine! Mine!” They really are such characters and I know that I can’t resist throwing them a chip or two myself 🙂
The transparency of the water makes this a very special pic!
Nice picture! 🙂
It’s a birdy WW. Mine is in the snowy mountains, not at the seashore. At least I’m using real birdseed.
Your photos are lovely- and thanks for visiting my blog. The answer to the image of the wine glass? It is an image from http://magpietales.blogspot.com A new image is posted each week by Tess Kincaid and then we all write something inspired by that image. It’s a lot of fun to read others poems etc…
A feeding frenzy. Great capture!
Very nice!
Happy WW to you!
I did that with potato chips once. One sea gull and I thought I’d toss it a chip. Next thing I knew I was being swarmed, covering my head against the sudden onslaught of diving sea gulls. I’ll never do that again!
😀
I can hear them squabbling over morsels of food!
THE BEST WATER
With water they say that the best
Is clearest when put to the test;
No sediment there
To cause wear and tear—
Pure water sure beats all the rest!

it IS so bad to feed them junk like that but at least you got a lovely photo.
I find seagulls are obnoxious in character. Except where the gulls give the feeders a show as the perform their well choreographed begging dance. Very disarming here, nearly cute. With great shadows!
Great shot!
Great shadow shots, nice and clear.
Great shot–I can hear them squawking and flapping trying to beat everyone else to the food. Mickie 🙂
Great shot.
Looks like a great place for a walk.
Thanks for sharing.
Yes, bad for them, but hard to stop doing it! Their little bodies aren’t designed to deal with trans fatty acids (well, neither is ours) and all that other stuff that is in processed foods.
Not a good idea to feed them. I’ve seen very aggressive seagulls – when they get used to junk they are ready to hunt it from your hand and that’s not nice nor cute. But you got a good SSS image. Happy Sunday! :
Yes, that always is so tempting. 🙂
Sweet ! Nice work here again…
The birds don’t seem bothered that some of them are in shadow and some of them aren’t. Nice!
I don’t think it would be good to be a stranger in this crowd. They look hungry. Lovely capture.
