Orchid display
Oh, I love the Volunteer Park Conservatory. Is it any wonder I made a book about it? A recent visit to their unendingly beautiful and changing displays yielded this photo of orchids in a stray beam of sunlight. And just for fun, there’s a bonus photo below showing one of the unusual and creative plant combinations that delight me so. That one is SOOC Sunday (straight out of the camera), but I have tweaked the orchids slightly.
Visit Pink Saturday, Today’s Flowers, Weekend Flowers, Macro Friday, Macro Monday, Macro Flowers Saturday and Shadow Shot Sunday when you get a chance. And if you’ve arrived via a link, be sure to click on Sara’s Fave Photos to see the entire blog.
thanks for this lovely weekend flowers! i love the orchids 🙂
lovely Sarah; I would enjoy walking through the conservatory; I have a beautiful dvd on the Kew Gardens throughout the year, behind the scenes.. that I love watching.
The pink orchids at the front with the long side petals; how beautiful; do you know what type it is?
In the second picture, the coleus (lower-right) ..is something that I’ve always admired for it’s wonderful colour range.
Carole, I think it might be a kind of phragmipedium, a kind of lady’s slipper. But I am no expert. Coleus I can identify for sure, though. I think the white and green leaves next to it is a kind of Fatsia, not sure if that is spelled right, and the variety is Spiders Web. Thanks for visiting!
Lovely orchids!
with such lovely flowers, it is truly a beautiful place.

These are both great photos. Lots of lovely detail in them.
Great photos!
Beautiful orchids!
Orchids are gorgeous flowers but those golden chrysanthemums in the second shot are not less beautiful either. I would like for us to have such a Volunteer Park Conservatory too.
Sara, I’ve updated my post with a new idea. I would like to know your opinion, if you have the time to check it out.
Lindas fotos!
