Pieris buds in ice
Seattle had a big ice storm, as you may have heard. I really wanted to get outside and take photos yesterday, but the weather was just too bad. Today it all began to melt, but I got out there before it was all gone and captured some great images. This pieris shrub is also called andromeda. I didn’t even realize it had already set buds until I was outside looking closely. It doesn’t seem to be the worse for wear.

Pretty shot!
so beautiful!!!!
Wow what a shot! Poor things, I hope they defrost well. Maybe you can take another shot in another couple of weeks of time to show us how they fared?
Thank you for participating in Floral Fridays Fotos!
What a stunning capture of the frozen bloom!
Wow, such a gorgeous shot!
Nice find Sara, with the buds captive in the ice.
You’ve capture a very interesting faze of this plants life.
how tough they’ve got to be: I’m imagining the beauty underneath
thanks for joining weekend flowers with this amazing pic!
Glad the freeze didn’t hurt this lovely plant — I wondered about the gardens up there (from sunny Florida)
Beautiful!
Beautiful shot. It’s snowing here, today. I’m feeling lazy and have no dogs to walk. So, I think I’ll stay home and watch the snowfall, landing on the fire escapes, from my window. 😉
Śliczne zdjęcie, ale kwiatka mi żal- jest mu zimno:-). Pozdrawiam. *** Cute picture, but I pity the flower, he is cold :-). Yours.
What a fantastic capture. I love the textures and tones, and softness the ice somehow brings to the photo.
Wow – lovely!
As for that WordPress follower button, it just appeared one day as part of the blog by WordPress. If you go to their site, I’m sure you’ll find more information. I think it has encouraged more followers…
Superb! Lovely ice flowers, I ‘m sure they will survive, they are pretty hardy.
If the ice didn’t damage it…they are a HARDY bush!!! Love your images.
My post for Monday: LANTANA BLOSSOMS & BERRIES
Oh, wow! That’s a wonderful shot. How pretty!
brr…pretty
Whoa! Such beauty!
So glad the ice didn’t hurt the buds! They are so pretty, encased in ice like that!
Beautiful. Love the pop of color of the buds peeking through the ice.
Ice and peeking reds blending together to create a unique artwork! This is stunningly beautiful!
So pretty! Good capture.
Beautiful photo – thanks for sharing (I’m glad it’s not that cold here)
Your picture is beautiful, but I am wondering about all the damage the ice storm has done. My son and his family just moved into a new home on Baimbridge….have not heard from him so an wondering how their planting have done. Hope yours will be OK. genie
Absolutely gorgeous photo of flower buds encased in ice. Nature is wonderful, isn’t it?
