Red Shirley poppies
I don’t know who Shirley was, but she must have been quite an individual to have a flower like THIS named after her. These are bigger than my hand, and you just can’t get showier, in my opinion. Red, red, red. These were taken last week at the Burien, WA Farmers Market. Such a pleasure!

Oh my, Sara. This photo takes my breath away.
beautiful!
They’re lovely. I love the way poppy petals come out of such a small bud with such display, like silk from a magician’s sleeve.
I think Shirley is the name of the English village where the seeds were saved by the Vicar. There are people in town here whose LAST name is Shirley.
These are just gorgeous. I love poppies and just got a new one last year that is starting to bloom. I’ll need to get some pictures as it is an orange/white combination.
Magnificent!

Wow! Spectacular! I recently learned the symbolism of these flowers — remembrance, sleep, peace, and death. Pretty cool.
Very pretty!!!

Great photo of a great flower – orange poppies is also my favorite flower in the garden.

Hi-I need to plant some of these in my garden. They are so different from what I have.♥♫
Gorgeous macro, Sara. Reminds me of Georgia O’Keefe’s paintings.
I am a little late in visiting from last week due to work commitments, but I thank you heartily for your continuing support of Floral Friday Fotos!
