Eclipse crescents

Here is the pattern of pinhole crescents projected on my house at the peak of this morning’s eclipse, courtesy of our large cedar tree. Where I live the sun was about 92% covered by the moon.

Tiny spaces between leaves and branches of a tree make a giant multi-pinhole camera for today’s eclipse

NWFGS bouquet

The NW Flower & Garden Show here in Seattle doesn’t start for a couple of weeks yet, but my archives have bouquets to whet our appetite.

This is a real water lily plant at Longwood Gardens, outside of Philadelphia. The sign said Longwood Hybrid Water-Platter Victoria ‘Longwood Hybrid.’

Winter sunset

I was at my brother’s house in Connecticut. He has a wonderful view of the western sky from his upper window.

Puget Sound from the viaduct

Seattle’s viaduct is still with us, but not for very much longer after the tunnel is completed. I will miss these views.

Cove sunset

There’s a cove near me, south of Seattle, and it does sunsets very well.

Sunset at the Conservatory

It’s been a Volunteer Park Conservatory kind of week. Still waiting for the Corpse Lily (“Dougsley”) to bloom and emit its stench. In the meantime, here’s a view of the sunset through the Bromeliad house.
