Ruby Tuesday with leaves

It’s early fall in Seattle, so how can you do Ruby Tuesday with anything except leaves? Although the great thing about this idea is that people around the world have their own interpretation. Click HERE to see other Ruby Tuesdays. This is from our walk in the Aboretum. It was so funny to see three or even four photographers aiming at the same red tree!

Fall day in the Aboretum

Here are a few photos from our walk yesterday. The third photo’s tree looked like some kind of exotic cherry, but I don’t know what it is. The middle is japanese maple leaves.

Washington Park Aboretum

We went to buy some spring bulbs on sale (bought way too much) and took a walk in the park, where we had never been. A few shadows showed themselves before it clouded up. This is for Shadow Shot Sunday, and if you’d like to see other variations on the theme, from talented photographers around the world, click HERE.

A magical sky

I took this photo when I lived in Northern California, and I still like it. Such a tender sky. Click HERE for more photos of skies around the world.

Ribbons for Wordless Wednesday

This is a from a trip to a wholesale florists supply store in Kent. You might think that the flowers would be the subject of choice, but these ribbons were amazing. There were several long aisles of them!

Wordless Wednesday (not just Wednesdays any more) is a fascinating opportunity for photographers around the world to show their photos. You can find it HERE.

A Ruby Tuesday from Las Vegas

This picture is definitely one of my top faves. I took it in Las Vegas last year, happy to be strolling around in perfect weather with a perfect sky and those amazing neon lights. I was so happy to be there at that very moment.

Flowers for today from my garden

All these dahlias and other flowers were from my backyard. Not too bad when you figure that we just moved here in May and there were no flowerbeds, just some big shrubs and one huge cedar tree. I’ll get the perfect photo for that someday, but not yet. Today we have two bouquets. We had some people over and of course I had to pick flowers. Please let me know which photo you like best! Shadows for Sunday

The late-day sun is a blessed thing for those with a camera in their hot little hands, itching for something lovely to capture. Another Arizona scene for your pleasure. For other fascinating shadow views, click HERE.

Skywatch Friday, back in Arizona

Here in Seattle it’s drizzly and gray, so I went back to my Arizona trip photos for a beautiful sky to post for today. This was taken not too far from Sedona. For more fascinating views of skies around the world, click HERE.

Des Moines marina

We went to dinner at Anthony’s at the marina and afterwards strolled at the water. Why is twilight so beautiful?

Ruby Tuesday campfire

We didn’t go camping this summer, but I was thinking about it and wish we could. Here is a photo from last year’s campsite, not too far from Mt. Ranier. I look at it and it makes me hear the quiet and smell the night air.

Shadow Sunday

I’m trying something new. I found a blog that suggests photos that are about or include shadows (Hey Harriet), and I like the things I saw there. I thought I’d give it a whirl. Here’s a photo from a week or two ago, when the sun was so warm I didn’t want to leave the water in it for too long. Hope you like it.
