Check out my new book, Flowers of Volunteer Park Conservatory. And welcome to Sara's Fave Photos Blog at Love That Image. My goal is to take a photo that is as compelling and beautiful as in real life, with no or minimal Photoshop work. You may copy a photo but link to lovethatimage.com. Blue salvia

A recent visit to Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory had pretty blue salvia, a lovely annual, planted in the beds in front.

Water and birdsong

This beautiful short video clip was taken at the North Fork of the Skokomish River in Washington. Note: Locals call it “the Skoke.” Turn up your sound so you can hear the bird chirping.

And here’s a still photo of water rushing nearby

Bull trout

In the North Fork of the Skokomish River in the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, my eagle-eyed hubby saw these bull trout fish. They like clear, unpolluted waters (don’t we all?) and these looked to be almost two feet long. How many can you see?

Skokomish River scene

We went camping. Here is a view of the blue sky reflected in the beautiful North Fork of the Skokomish River on a late summer afternoon.

Artichoke flower

Not everyone knows that if you don’t pick an artichoke when it’s closed up nice and tight, it will open to a beautiful bluish-purple flower.

Flower basket of begonias

Walking in West Seattle recently, saw these baskets of an unusual kind of begonia. Pretty showy, I think.

At the Arts-A-Glow Lantern Festival in Burien yesterday, someone had rigged up glowing rainbow lights to his platform shoes.

Burien Arts-A-Glow

I happened upon a wonderful community event this evening, the Burien Arts-A-Glow Lantern Festival, and was enchanted at the various light sculpture installations in the little park. This one had three groups of lit-up pillars a few inches wide and maybe 10 or 12 feet tall. Loved it.
