Check out my new book, Flowers of Volunteer Park Conservatory. And welcome to Sara's Fave Photos Blog at Love That Image. My goal is to take a photo that is as compelling and beautiful as in real life, with no or minimal Photoshop work. You may copy a photo but link to lovethatimage.com. Bridal veils

There’s a wonderful bride shop in Burien, WA (south of Seattle) that was full of such loveliness:

Sunset and evergreens

We had nice weather break through for a bit a couple of days ago, and this is what the sunset looked like in my backyard:

Salpiglossis or Painted Tongue print

This photo of brilliant annual flowers (Salpiglossis or Painted Tongue) from the summer display at the Volunteer Park Conservatory is available as a print for your home or office, one of 15 lush images from my book, Flowers of Volunteer Park Conservatory: Blooming Month by Month. Without watermarks, of course. All are 8″ x 10″ archival quality photo prints and I’ve firmly matted them in white to 11 x 14″ and signed each one. Commercial space

In a commercial building that is not fully leased, I saw the light pour in. It gave me a good feeling.

Pink double azalea macro

I really love how a macro gets you looking more closely at things. This is a very simple shot, taken with that little “flower” icon setting on my little pocket camera (a Canon Powershot 95S). As an aside, I took all the photos in my book with this little pocket camera. Be sure to download your free copy of Secrets to Better Flower Photos at right. You do not need a fancy camera to take excellent photos.

I find the delicacy of both the maidenhair fern fronds and the pink azalea petals to be very satisfying. Each leaflet on the fern is about 1 cm, or less than half an inch.

Orchids at the Conservatory

Seattle’s beloved Volunteer Park Conservatory was looking fine today. The sun was out and the light on the orchids was just spectacular. Below the lady slipper orchid macro, check out the pretty metalwork and Clise Orchid Collection from 1921 sign decorating the display.

Maidenhair ferns

Maidenhair fern is the signature plant of Seattle’s beloved Volunteer Park Conservatory. They have no watermark, of course. All are 8″ x 10″ archival quality photo prints and I’ve firmly matted them in white to 11 x 14″ and signed each one. Boats and a houseboat

These boats (and a houseboat!) are tied up at Lake Union in Seattle, WA. I do love the reflections that show Seattle’s gray skies very well.

Purple crocus macro

I got some little crocus bulbs in a pot and they have begun to bloom. The sun peeked out today, finally, and I grabbed my camera.
